Man Charged With Pointing Gun At Officers

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man has been charged with pointing a gun at police officers as they chased him through his Englewood home Sunday night.

Jermaine Clare, 29, of the 5500 block of South Princeton Avenue is charged with two counts of aggravated assault to a police officer and unlawful possession of a handgun by a felon, police said. He was also wanted on a parole violation warrant.

No one was hurt in the incident, which started about 9:30 p.m. when two Englewood District officers on patrol approached a group of people in the 5500 block of South Princeton, Englewood District police said.

Clare allegedly ran into his home and pointed a gun at the officers chasing him, police said.

Officers chased him through the home and into his backyard, where officers fired shots, police said. No one was hit and they arrested Clare and recovered a handgun at the scene, according to police.
