81-Year-Old Orland Township Man Found Safe
UPDATED 11/18/11 9:38 a.m.
STERLING, Ill. (CBS) -- An 81-year-old Orland Township man has been found safe, after going for a visit to a hospital Thursday and ending up in northwest Illinois.
Wolfgang Fleischhauer, of unincorporated Orland Township, left Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet after a visit for unspecified reasons around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office.
He was not seen again until Friday morning, when Illinois State Police found him near Sterling -- about 120 miles away from Joliet where he started, and just one county removed from the Mississippi River.
Fleischhauer's daughter contacted police when her father didn't return.
Police believed from the start that Fleischhauer might have gotten lost while driving, and said he might have been spotted in the Oswego area around 4 p.m. Thursday, according to the Sheriff's Office.
