2 Hospitalized In Crash On Morton Arboretum Grounds

LISLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A crash on the grounds of the Morton Arboretum sent two people to the hospital Wednesday night.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 4100 block of Route 53, on the grounds of the arboretum in unincorporated Lisle Township.

Fire crews from the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District had to extricate one of the men from the wreckage of his sport-utility vehicle, Battalion Chief Jim Bateman said. The man and the others were taken by ambulance to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, he said.

Bateman said the other vehicle involved in the crash was a car. One of the vehicles ran 75 to 80 feet off the roadway and into several trees, he said.

Bateman said he did not know what caused the crash, nor did he have further information about the injured. A spokeswoman for the DuPage County Sheriff's Office did not immediately return a telephone message that sought details about the incident.
