Man Killed By Falling Debris At Construction Site

CHICAGO (STMW)--A man was killed by a piece of falling debris at a Far South Side construction site Monday afternoon.

James Quigley, 37, of the 9700 block of South Lawndale Avenue in Evergreen Park, died following the apparent accident in the 13100 block of South Torrence Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

He was at a construction site near when a piece of falling debris, possibly iron, struck him at 4:12 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.

He was taken to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island where he was pronounced dead at 5:21 p.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

Police could not immediately say what the man was doing at the construction site when he was injured. Area South detectives are investigating.
