As WBBM Newsradio's John Waelti reports, police say on Saturday afternoon, the victim went to a 7-Eleven store at 7749 Roosevelt Rd. in Forest Park, so he could retrieve a cell phone he had lost earlier in the day from a man who called to say he had found it.

But an argument ensued, and police say around 2:55 p.m., the man who had the phone shot the owner of the phone.

The victim was wounded once in the neck in the northwest corner of the parking lot.

He was transported to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where he underwent emergency surgery. He was last reported in critical condition, police said.

Two suspects ran north on Des Plaines Avenue after the shooting.

One suspect is described as a heavy set African-American man, 20-30 years old, 5-feet-10 to 6-feet-2, with his hair braided or having short curls and having a chipped tooth, the release said. He was wearing a long denim shirt and dark jeans with designs or rips in the legs and dark boots with an unknown design.

The second suspect is described as a thin African American female, in her early teens or twenties, 5-feet-2 to 5-feet-5, with braids with bleached tips, the release said. She was wearing a grey hoodie, dark jeans and white shoes.

Video surveillance close to the scene shows both suspects walking towards the 7-Eleven before the shooting took place, the release said.
