Joliet Township High School Students Accused of Hazing

JOLIET, Ill. (CBS) -- Officials at Joliet Township High School District 204 are investigating hazing allegations against members of the girls' soccer team at Joliet West High School.

"Hazing/initiation is not tolerated," Joliet Township High School said in a statement on Wednesday. "An allegation of hazing was reported to Joliet West High School administration. JTHS immediately began to investigate."

As CBS 2's Brad Edwards reports, it allegedly happened over the weekend at a tournament in Freeport, about 100 miles northwest of Chicago.

It's alleged a victim was photographed being wrapped with plastic wrap. Pictures of the incident circulated online.

"We along with Joliet Police are investigating," said Freeport Police Department Deputy Chief Jeff Davis. "Whatever happened, happened in our jurisdiction."

He said if the investigation warrants, they'll pass it onto the States Attorney's Offices.

"I was just disgusted to find out this type of thing happened," said Xochilt Correa, who was on campus Wednesday to pick up her kids. "If it sends a message, then it sends the right message that it will not be tolerated."
