Sunny And Pleasant For Rest Of The Day, But Cooler By The Lake

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Sunny and beautiful conditions will prevail for the rest of the day Thursday, although a chill will be in the air along the lake all day.

And when Friday comes around, it's time to take off the jacket and put on the sandals and shorts, because the temperature will climb to the 80s again.

CBS 2 Meteorologist Ed Curran says as of 11:20 a.m., it was 68 degrees at O'Hare International Airport, 66 at Midway, and 63 at the lakefront.

A wind of 5 to 10 mph from the southeast is keeping temperatures cooler by the lake, where it will remain in the 60s. But elsewhere, temperatures will climb to 73 degrees.

You will need a jacket for the Cubs game Thursday evening, as the temperature will only be 59 degrees at the time of the first pitch at 7:05 p.m. An east wind over the lake of 10 mph will keep the temperatures down.

Overnight, the low drops to 55 degrees, but on Friday, the wind will shift to blow in from the due south, and will no longer carry the chill of the lake.

For Friday, the high climbs to a balmy 83 degrees, followed by 86 on Saturday, 85 on Sunday, 75 on Monday, 72 on Tuesday and 78 on Wednesday.
