Updated 08/20/12 - 2:04 p.m.

EVANSTON (STMW) -- Police have released a surveillance photo of the men who allegedly robbed three Northwestern University students at gunpoint early Sunday, then used a stolen credit card at a convenience store just minutes minutes later.

Two men used the credit card taken during the robbery at 1:35 a.m. at a 7-Eleven store at 3441 Church St. in Skokie, Evanston police said.

Surveillance video shows two males exiting a light-colored vehicle and entering the store, Evanston police said. A male with dreadlocks or braids approaches the register and makes a purchase with the credit card, which belonged to one of the robbery victims. They then fdrive off.

The men are now suspects in a robbery that occurred about 25 minutes earlier.

Three female students were walking in the 2000 block of Pratt Court in Evanston when two men approached them about 1:10 a.m., according to a statement from Evanston police. The men told the women to stop and one of the men took out a silver handgun and snatched a student's purse.

The two other women were told to hand over their purses, and the men ran westbound on Foster Avenue, the statement said, adding that none of the women were injured.

Police described the gunman as a black man in his 20s, between 5-foot-3 and 5-foot-6. He wore all black clothes. Police said they could not get a description of the other man.

Anyone with information should contact Evanston police at (847) 866-5000.
