CHICAGO (CBS) -- Four people were taken to an area hospital in critical condition after crash sent a minivan into a house in the Sauganash neighborhood.
As CBS 2's David Morrison reports, it appeared that two vehicles were involved in a crash at Devon and Kolmar avenues sometime before 6:30 a.m. One, a minivan, ended up crashing into a house, while the other, a sedan, remained on the home's front lawn and ended up catching fire.
The man of the family who lives in the home says everyone heard a sound as the car hit their home, saw the driver dazed , and passengers in the offending vehicle sprawled out in their front yard.
He says there is minimal damage to the home – just a broken window.
One person was hospitalized in serious-to-critical condition, and three more in fair-to-serious condition, the Fire Department said. Three more were treated and released at the scene.
The Fire Department called an EMS Plan 1 – which automatically sends five ambulances – when the car hit the building.
Kolmar Avenue was blocked just south of Devon Avenue after the crash.
