Illinois Basketball Ranked In Top 25

(WSCR) Fortunately for Illini fans, football season is over and their focus can now switch to basketball

New head coach John Groce has impressed thus far, leading his team to a 7-0 start and landing at No. 22 in the AP and coaches poll.

The Illini won the Maui Invitational earlier this season with a victory over Butler and the team remained unbeaten Sunday by taking down Gardner-Webb on a last-second shot.

Groce is the first coach to start his Illinois career with a 7-0 start since coach Harry Combes in 1947.
