GPS On Stolen Phone Leads Cops To Suspects

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two south suburban men are behind bars after a stolen smart phone led police to them.

Phone Leads Cops To Suspects

Chicago police say two young Blue Island men have been charged with holding up two other young men on 106th and Campbell in the West Beverly neighborhood early yesterday morning.

An iPhone was among the items taken.

19th Ward Ald. Matt O'Shea said police responded quickly to the hold-up, and a phone-tracking app was used to zero in on the suspects.

The two men were found sitting in a parked car in Blue Island with the engine running less than a half hour later.

"Thank God these morons weren't smart enough to shut the phone off," O'Shea said. "If you shut the phone off, it can't be tracked."

Rolando Ojeda, 23, and 17-year old Anthony Castaneda, 17, both of Blue Island, are charged with aggravated robbery.
