(CBS) The first part of Roniah Tuiasosopo’s interview with Dr. Phil will air Thursday and the longtime psychologist went on the Today show to provide a glimpse of what the Manti Te’o hoax mastermind told him.

“Here we have a young man that fell deeply, romantically in love,” Dr. Phil told Today. “I asked him straight up, ‘Was this a romantic relationship with you?’ And he says yes. According to Dr. Phil, Tuiasosopo insists Te’o did not play any part in the hoax. The interview also suggests Tuiasosopo was the voice behind the phone calls and voicemails, which has been under dispute.
