CHICAGO (STMW) — A man was fatally shot in the stomach as he left a lounge in the Englewood neighborhood early Friday, authorities said.

A group of people told police they were near the club in the 900 block of West 69th Street when they heard gunshots about 2:01 a.m., police said.

They found a man, believed to be in his 30s, shot as he left the club, police said.

He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he died at 5:30 a.m., said a representative from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. The man’s identity was being withheld as authorities notify his family Friday.

No one is in custody and Area South detectives are investigating.
