DCFS Investigating Death Of Englewood Infant

CHICAGO (STMW) -- The state Department of Children and Family Services are investigating the death of a four-month-old girl Saturday at her South Side Englewood neighborhood home.

Omysia Brown was found unresponsive at her home in the 5900 block of South Carpenter Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

She was pronounced dead at Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center at 8:06 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.

DCFS is investigating allegations of abuse and neglect against the parents, spokesman Dave Clarkin said.

Three other siblings were placed in the care of a relative, Clarkin said.

DCFS was investigating the mother for a report received last month when the death occurred, Clarkin said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Sunday.
