Elderly Woman Reported Missing In Hermosa Neighborhood

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are looking for a missing 82-year-old woman who was often seen pushing a shopping cart while collecting recyclables near her Northwest Side Hermosa neighborhood home.

Maria Aparicio, of the 2700 block of North Menard Avenue, went missing Wednesday, police said in a missing person alert.

Aparicio wears glasses, suffers from memory loss and only speaks Spanish, the alert said.

The woman was last seen wearing a brown, knee-length plaid coat, a long denim skirt and a fanny pack, police said. It is likely that she has the shopping cart of recyclables with her, police said.

Aparicio is a 4-foot-10 Hispanic woman, with grey hair, brown eyes, and medium complexion, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
