DCFS: Neglect Alleged In Death Of Elmwood Park Infant

ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. (STMW) -- State child welfare officials are investigating allegations of neglect in connection with the death of a 4-month-old Elmwood Park girl.

Natalia Bacz was found unresponsive at her home in the 2300 block of North Harlem Avenue, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

She was taken to Gottlieb Hospital in Melrose Park where she was pronounced dead at 5:53 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.

The Department of Children and Family Services is investigating allegations of neglect against the girl's mother in connection with her death, spokesman Jimmie Whitelow said.

The agency has had no prior contact with the infant's family, Whitelow said. He could not immediately say if any other children live in the home.

Elmwood Park police declined to comment Tuesday night.
