Northwestern Student Found Dead In Lab Building

EVANSTON (CBS) -- A Northwestern University student was found dead in a university building Sunday, Pioneer Press is reporting.

Undergraduate Dmitri Teplov was found dead in Pancoe Hall, Patricia Telles-Irvin, vice president for student affairs said in a statement.

Teplov, 20, of 1927 Orrington Ave. in Evanston was a sophomore in the McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Sciences from New York City.

Pancoe Hall houses some of the university's biology and biomedical labs. Teplov was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:30 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Telles-Irvin said the cause of death has not yet been determined and is under investigation by the Evanston and university police.

Autopsy results and an official cause of death are pending.

"On behalf of the university, I extend our condolences to Dmitri's family and friends," Telles-Irvin said. "We always feel deeply the loss of a member of our Northwestern community."
