That's All She Wrote: Kane Haters Be Quiet

By George Ofman-

(CBS) OK, Patrick Kane haters, you can all go back in the closet, unless you want to keep hating on Jonathan Toews.

————————————–

Not only did "Kaner" return to form, he peppered Jonathan Quick with seven shots, scored one goal and should have had a second. He found skating room and used it. And they pay Marian Hossa a lot of money for a reason: He's a money player. Speaking of money, Stan Bowman better not do to Bryan Bickell what he did to Dustin Byfuglien… let him go. No matter how you do it, Stan, find the money. Double B deserves his bucks, and from you.

————————————–

Jake Peavy is this year's Matt Garza. Just when his trade value rises, he gets hurt.  He's out four to six weeks and the White Sox are out of luck.

————————————–

Imagine if the White Sox had lost that marathon game at Seattle, the one in which they scored five in the 14th only to have the Mariners match it in the bottom half. It would have ranked as one of their worst in recent memory. But the White Sox pulled it out. Consider it TWTW after eight straight losses.

————————————–

Robin Ventura left the game earlier to attend the high school graduation of his youngest daughter.  You understand if he doesn't come back, don't you?

————————————–

Of course, an extra-inning victory was followed by an extra-inning loss. Adam Dunn thought he had a game-winning homer against Oakland in the 10th but it died at the warning track. It's emblematic of Dunn's season. I'm not advocating his release just yet, but Sox brass has to start considering it. He's hitting .158 this season after hitting .204 in 2012 and .159 in 2011.

————————————–

The city wanted to determine when the Cubs could reschedule rain-outs.  There is gall and there is outright stupidity. The Cubs will get more night games and Friday 3:05 starts. Unfortunately, the Cubs and Wrigleyville residents are still stuck with Carlos Marmol.

————————————–

Instead of a pitcher, the Cubs nabbed a big-time hitter in the draft. Better hope Kris Bryant pans out because I really think Jonathan Gray is going to be a stud.

————————————–

So, why do I get the feeling that part of the reason the Cubs drafted Bryant is so they can dangle Jorge Soler for pitching?

————————————–

If you think our baseball teams are bad, check out LA's.  The Dodgers can't hit, and the underachieving Angels are overpaid. But the Sox have Dunn and the Cubs their miserable bullpen. That trumps everything. Wait: The Clippers have Vinny Del Negro.  Wait part two: Darn, he was fired.

————————————–

From respected and admired, to shame and a deceit: Ladies and gentleman, Ryan Braun.

————————————–

First week phenom: Ladies and gentleman... Yasiel Puig.  Who's checking for PEDs?

————————————–

Aren't the Heat supposed to win multiple championships? Not three, not four, not five, not six… That's what LeBron James said. After Game 1, it looks as if the Spurs have an opportunity to add to their multiple banners. Not four, but five!

————————————–

And that's all she wrote.
