State Sen. Wants Concealed Guns Banned In Churches
(CBS) -- An Illinois lawmaker is proposing a change to the state's new concealed carry law, reports WBBM's Regine Schlesinger.
State Senator Dan Kotowski, a Democrat from Park Ridge and a former gun control lobbyist, wants churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of prayer exempted from places where eligible gun owners will be allowed to carry concealed weapons.

Senator Kotowski says a house of worship is no place for a gun.
"The question that people shouldn't be asking is 'Do you have a piece in church?' It should be peace be with you," said Kotoswki.
A number of religious leaders stood with the senator at his news conference at the Chicago Temple. Several lawmakers are proposing changes to the law, even though the legislature recently killed Governor Quinn's proposed changes.
Concealed-carry laws in a few other states do ban guns in churches.
