Chicago's Cecily Strong To Co-Anchor 'Weekend Update' With Seth Meyers

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Hopefully Saturday Night Live's hysterical "Weekend Update" segment isn't the only place you get your news.

"Weekend Update" has been a consistently funny part of the sketch comedy show for years, having maintained its popularity under the care of Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey (the sketch was created by original cast member Chevy Chase).

Much credit should also be given to Seth Meyers, who's sat solely at the helm of "Weekend Update" since 2008.

But nothing lasts forever. With the looming departure of Meyers, who is taking over NBC's Late Night in February, Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels is in need of a replacement.

It seems that replacement will likely be Chicago's very own Cecily Strong.

Revealed by The New York Times, Michaels intends to feature Strong at the "Weekend Update" desk with Meyers during the Saturday Night Live premiere on September 28.

This will not be Cecily Strong's first rodeo, mind you. Strong, who joined Saturday Night Live as a featured player during the 2012-2013 season, has been on "Weekend Update" before. You may remember her as the hilarious "girl you wish you hadn't started a conversation with at a party."
