Mom Mistakenly Runs Over 6-Year-Old Son
ROCKFORD, Ill. (AP) — Rockford authorities say a 6-year-old boy died after his mother mistakenly ran over him in the family's SUV.
Police haven't released the name of the boy who died Thursday or his 50-year-old mother.
An autopsy is expected Friday.
Investigators say the SUV was in a driveway Thursday afternoon when the boy was standing inside an open door.
The woman's foot came off the brake and the vehicle rolled backward, knocking the boy down and rolling on top of him.
The accident remains under investigation.
