Two Hurt In Drive-By Shooting In Joliet
JOLIET, Ill. (STMW) -- — Two men were wounded Thursday during a drive-by shooting in southwest suburban Joliet, but the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, the Herald-News is reporting.
Police responded about 2 p.m. to a call of gunfire in the 1500 block of Englewood Avenue, where a 57-year-old Lockport man was bleeding from his left forearm, Joliet police Cmdr. Al Roechner said. He said the victim told officers he was walking nearby when bullets came from a small red car that sped away.
"He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital, while a 26-year-old man was dropped off with a gunshot wound to his left tricep," Roechner said. "The younger victim said he'd been riding with friends in a red car when they were shot at by a man outside."
Roechner said detectives believe the older man was a bystander and not the target of the attack.
Will County Jail records show the younger victim has been arrested three times on drug-dealing charges since 2009.
