Man Charged With Posing As A Cop, Robbing Victims

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Chicago man has been charged with posing as a police officer, and robbing at least four people at gunpoint.

James Blackman, 46, has been charged with three counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated robbery, five counts of impersonating a police officer, and one count of aggravated kidnapping.

Police said Blackman allegedly identified himself as "Officer Franklin" before robbing four people at gunpoint on the South Side.

The robberies occurred throughout September, in the 7000 block of South Justine Street, the 8000 block of South Oakley Avenue, the 7700 block of South Colfax Avenue and the 8100 block of South Colfax Avenue.

Last month, one of the victims said he gave the fake cop $400 – money for his upcoming wedding reception.

Blackman was in police custody, awaiting a bond hearing Wednesday afternoon.
