Samardzija: Talking Contract With Cubs 'All The Time'
(WSCR) With arbitration on the horizon Saturday, right-handed pitcher Jeff Samardzija and the Cubs remain in regular talks to get a contract done and avoid it, he said Friday on the "McNeil and Spiegel Show."
"It's a process," Samardzija said. "Obviously, the team has their approach, and I have my approach.
"We're on good terms. We're talking all the time."
On Thursday, 670 The Score's Bruce Levine reported that the Cubs and Samardzija were $100,000 apart in their talks, suggesting a deal could be reached on the eve of arbitration and avoid some of the pain that can come with it.
The 29-year-old Samardzija went 8-13 with a 4.34 ERA last season.
