CHICAGO (CBS) — The best hot dog in America is right here in Chicago.

And if you thought it was the soon-to-be-closing Hot Doug’s, you would be wrong.

The Daily Meal has selected Fat Johnnie’s Famous Red Hots at the best in the country.

Hot Doug’s placed fourth.

The website admits the ramshackle hut at 7242 S. Western is “a bit of a sleeper.”

It lauds the Mighty Dog–a hot dog and tamale on a bun with chili and cheese.

“Sounds like a monster, right? You’re right to be scared, it’s a mess,” according to the website summary of the place. “You want tomato, sport peppers, relish, and pickles on that? You bet you do.

“It’s one of the best hot dogs you’ll ever have.”

Johnnie’s has been serving up food for 41 years this month.

Four other hot dog joints from Chicago made the list.
