Police Renew Search For Driver In 2013 Fatal Hit-And-Run

(CBS/STMW) -- Police announced Sunday they are still looking for a man who was driving a maroon Hyundai Sonata that fatally struck a woman last year in Bridgeport.

The car struck 21-year-old Carissa Hinz about 11 p.m. June 14, 2013 in the 3200 block of South Morgan Street, authorities said.

Hinz, of the 3300 block of South Lowe Avenue, was dead on the scene, authorities said. An autopsy determined Hinz died from multiple injuries from a vehicle striking a pedestrian and the death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner's office.

On Sunday, police issued an alert that said investigators are still looking for man in his 20s who was driving the maroon Hyundai Sonata sedan--which had two passengers-- at the time of the accident. Police said it was last seen speeding south on Morgan Street that night.

Hinz was working as a barista and aspired to be a graphic artist, the Sun-Times previously reported. She had spent her last night volunteering at the Co-Prosperity Sphere, a cultural center in Bridgeport.

On Sunday, a mystery group of people placed flowers on Morgan Street near where the accident took place. The planters had Carissa's picture on them.

The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
