CHICAGO (STMW) — A Hazel Crest man is the second to be charged in connection with shooting a south suburban man to death and wounding two others almost two months ago in the Englewood neighborhood.
Dayvon Bennett, 19, faces one count of first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder, all felonies, in connection with the May 29 shooting that happened in the 5700 block of South LaSalle Street, police announced early Tuesday.READ MORE: Ex-NorthShore Gynecologist Fabio Ortega Pleads Guilty To Sexually Abusing Patients
Three men were on a porch there about 6:10 p.m. when someone walked out of a gangway and fired shots, police said at the time.
Malcolm Stuckey, 19, of the 16000 block of Carrington Drive in South Holland, was shot in the head and pronounced dead at 10:35 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
A 23-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the mouth and leg and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, and a 24-year-old man took himself to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center with a gunshot wound to the foot, police said.READ MORE: Dixmoor Sends Plea For Help As Water Pressure Down To A Trickle In Parts Of South Suburb
Bennett, of the 16900 block of South Jodave Avenue in Hazel Crest, was later identified as a shooter, police said. He is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
Bennett is the second man arrested in connection with the shooting.
Michael Wade, 23, of the 7200 block of South Champlain Avenue, has also been charged with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder, authorities said.
