Northwest Suburban Teacher Wanted For Sexually Assaulting Girl

(STMW) -- A northwest suburban grade school teacher who allegedly sexually assaulted a girl two years ago may have fled the country, police said.

An arrest warrant was issued Friday for Michael R. Vucic, 41, who is charged with five counts of predatory sexual assault and five counts of sexual assault, according to a statement from the Lake County Sheriff's office. His arrest warrant carries a $1 million bond.

On Monday, a girl under the age of 13 told her grandparents that Vucic had inappropriate sexual contact with her multiple times in 2012, police said.

Police think Vucic, of the 100 block of East Laurel Avenue in Lake Forest, may have fled to Germany.

Vucic is a teacher at Gavin School District in Ingleside. Officials there could not immediately be reached for comment Friday afternoon.

Police are asking other possible victims to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call sheriff's deputies at (847) 549-5200.
