CBS 2’s Pamela Jones reports the crash happened at around 4:19 p.m. The mom driving a Mitsubishi Outlander told police a silver minivan slammed into the back of her SUV and the next thing she knew they’d smashed through a front wall at the corner of Belmont and Central.
“I am driving up the street and I see a car flying across jumping the curb on top of this gentelman’s house,” said Sal Lara Jr., a witness.READ MORE: Chicago Weather: Best Way To Melt All That Ice
And the next thing she knew they’d smashed through a front wall at the corner of Belmont and Central.
“I was panic stricken. I thought either she had a heart attack or something happened,” Lara said.
What happened to cause this crash is still a mystery to police. They know another vehicle hit the car, but investigators don’t think the first impact pushed the SUV out of control. The mom and her children just grateful someone was there to help.MORE NEWS: Chicago Weather: Black Ice, Frostbite Risk As Wind Chills Drop Below Zero Tuesday
