(CBS) – Students, staff and family members of slain Loyola student Mutahir Rauf will gather Tuesday to remember him.
Rauf, 23, was shot and killed in an attempted robbery Friday night.
Monday was the first day of classes since the murder.
Rauf was walking in an alley near Albion and Lakewood when he was approached by two men, at least one of whom had a gun. Rauf’s own brother was with him when the pre-med student was fatally shot.
Ald. Joe Moore says police are following leads, but video from the nearby L stop may not be one of them.
“It does not appear that they captured the perpetrators on the video,” he says.
The memorial service takes place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mundelein Auditorium.
The victim’s brother is scheduled to speak with media before then.
The robbers are believed to be in their late teens or early-20s.
