Westmont Police Hunt For Suspect In Home Invasion, Sexual Assault Of Elderly Woman

(CBS) – Westmont police are looking for a suspect in a home invasion and sexual assault that occurred earlier this week.

An elderly Westmont woman told authorities an armed suspect awakened her at 5 a.m. Thursday at a residence in the 1100 block of South Williams Street.

Westmont Woman Attacked

The suspect forced the victim to drive to an ATM in Willowbrook and retrieve cash from her bank account. The victim dropped off the offender in the area of 83rd Street and Janes Avenue in Woodridge.

The victim was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment and is recovering from her injuries with family, Westmont police say.

"It's shocking to us. This is a very rare occurrence. We are a very safe community. We are taking this case very personally," Deputy Police Chief Jim Gunther says. "We're putting all available resources into solving this crime."

The Westmont Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect. Tips can be called in to (630) 981-6319 or emailed to chiefofpolice@westmont.il.gov.
