Man Charged In New Year's Day Shooting At Nightclub
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man who has been charged with shooting another man New Year's Day at a nightclub in the Humboldt Park neighborhood was denied bail Sunday.
John Jackson, 31, faces one count of aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied building, both felonies, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
Jackson, of the 400 block of North Hamlin, was identified as the man who opened fire outside the club about 3:10 a.m. Thursday in the 3900 block of West Chicago Avenue, officials said.
Jackson threw a plate of food at a 33-year-old man when the pair got into an argument during a party inside the club, a police source said.
When he was thrown out, Jackson pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the building, police said.
The 33-year-old was shot in the left foot and taken in good condition to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, police said.
According to the police report, Jackson and several other people ran to a waiting, four-door grey car, which sped away after the shooting.
On Sunday, Jackson was ordered held without bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff's office. He is next scheduled to appear in court Friday.
