(CBS) –A dog was killed after being struck by an SUV following a shooting in the Edgewater neighborhood Wednesday evening, reports CBS 2’s Pamela Jones.

Police say it went down just after 5 p.m. in a park in the 5400 block of North Sheridan Road.

Witnesses say an SUV rolled right through a park and ran over a dog. Police say they believe someone in a white Jeep heading north fired shots and that gunfire hit a building.

At some point a witness tells CBS 2 the SUV swerved into the park right into the path of a person who was walking a dog.

“There are so many people in this neighborhood that have dogs and that love dogs, it’s troubling to hear and come back to,” said Stacey Joseph

The Park Tower Condo Association has a surveillance camera they say captured the incident.

They’re working on getting that footage to police.
