Report: Jimmy Butler Named An All-Star Reserve For Eastern Conference
(CBS) Bulls wing Jimmy Butler has been rewarded for having a career year.
The 25-year-old Butler has been named an All-Star reserve for the Eastern Conference, Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday evening. It's the first such honor of his career and comes during a season in which he's averaging a career-high 20.1 points per game, 17th-most in the NBA entering Thursday, and 6.0 rebounds on nearly 46 percent shooting. Butler is also leading the NBA at 39.5 minutes per game and is lauded as one of the league's premier perimeter defenders.
The All-Star Game is Feb. 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York, where Butler will be joined by teammate Pau Gasol, who was voted the East's starting center by the fans. Reserves were chosen by the coaches.
The other East starters are LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, John Wall and Kyle Lowry.
Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Anthony Davis, Blake Griffin and Marc Gasol were voted as the West's starters, though Bryant will miss the game because of injury.
The entire All-Star rosters will be revealed this evening on TNT.
