CHICAGO (CBS) — Two Water Department workers ended up in a trench early Friday morning, while trying to avoid being struck by a car involved in a police chase in the South Deering neighborhood.
Police said officers were pursuing suspects in a stolen vehicle around 12:40 a.m., when their pursuit brought them to the 1500 block of East 95th Street, where the Water Department employees were working on a construction project.READ MORE: XS Tennis Summer Bash Hosts Free COVID-19 Vaccination Event With Concert

Firefighters and paramedics pulled them out of the trench using stretchers, and took the workers to Advocate Trinity Hospital. Their injuries were not life threatening.MORE NEWS: Three Shot While Standing On Porch On West Side
Police said the suspects got away, so no one was in custody Friday morning.
