Psst! Buddy, Want To Buy A Frankfort Home, Real Cheap?

(CBS) – If you've ever wanted to own a home in suburban Frankfort, the village has a deal for you: three houses, each starting at just under $20.

CBS 2's Chris Martinez reports on why they're priced to move.

From the outside, the historic home is all shined up for sale.

But just wait until you hear the price.

"Eighteen dollars and ninety cents – this home could be yours," Frankfort Mayor Jim Holland says.

Yes, that's the minimal bid for the house and two others up for auction.

The village bought the properties last year and now wants to sell the homes cheaply. There's a catch, though.

"They have to understand that they have to move it within a reasonable period of time," the mayor says.

Your bid buys the house – not the land. The village hopes to build a mixed-use development where the houses now sit.
