Second Man Charged In March Murder In Belmont Cragin
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A second man has been charged with a fatal shooting last month outside a Dunkin' Donuts in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood on the Northwest Side.
Erick Gill, 23, faces one count of first-degree murder for the shooting of Edgar Muneton last month, according to Chicago Police. He is scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.
About 5:40 p.m. on March 25, Muneton got into a fight with a group of people inside the doughnut shop in the 5200 block of West Fullerton, Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.
When he tried to run away through the back door, he was shot, police said. Emergency crews found him in the alley with multiple gunshot wounds.
Muneton, of the 2700 block of North Neva, was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the medical examiner's office.
Police previously charged Stephon Gill, 21, who was ordered held without bond last week. Both suspects live in the 4800 block of West Wabansia, but police would not say whether they are related.
Prosecutors said in court last week that Stephon Gill, a reputed gang member, was angry that rivals had jumped a fellow Latin Styler while he was with his child.
Gill chased Muneton and two other Latin Kings through the Dunkin' Donuts, behind the counter and into the employee area before Muneton was gunned down, prosecutors said.
Investigators found .40-caliber shell casings in the alley behind the shop and surveillance footage caught Stephon Gill, prosecutors said.
Police said Erick Gill was identified by witnesses as one of the other attackers.
