Cook County Sheriff's Deputy's Son Charged In Shooting
(STMW) -- The son of a Cook County Sheriff's deputy is accused of shooting a man twice in a Southwest Side cellphone store, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting.
Anton Davis, 22, was brought into police custody by his mother, who was contacted by officers with the Chicago Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, authorities said.
Davis, of west suburban Evergreen Park, is charged with shooting and wounding a 23-year-old man in the right bicep and chest after spotting him in the store in the 3200 block of West 87th Street on March 27.
Cook County Prosecutors on Saturday said Davis recognized the man as someone he got into a fight with three years ago. The man also saw Davis and tried to leave before he was injured, prosecutors said.
Davis' mother, aunt and several other family members are Cook County Sheriff's employees, according to Davis' private attorney.
His mother and four family members attended Davis' bond hearing on Saturday.
Cook County Judge James Brown set bail at $100,000 and ordered that he be placed on electronic monitoring should he be able to post bond.
Davis employed as a clerk for the Health Care Consortium of Illinois.
