(STMW) — A driver has been ticketed after a crash on Interstate 55 that left a woman and her 2-year-old son dead Saturday afternoon in southwest suburban Bolingbrook.
Yesenia Quintero, 25, was driving with her son Isaac about 1 p.m. near 220 E. Frontage Road when a southbound vehicle on I-55 lost control, went through a ditch and sailed through the air, smashing into Quintero’s vehicle, according to Illinois State Police and the Will County coroner’s office.
The mother and son, who lived in Bolingbrook, were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
The driver of the vehicle that lost control was cited for improper lane usage, state police said on Sunday.
