CHICAGO (CBS) — An ambulance transporting a patient was one of the two vehicles hit by gunshots on the Dan Ryan Expy. on Thursday afternoon.

The Superior Ambulance was hit around 3:15 p.m. while it was travelling north on the expressway near 31st Street, according to Illinois State Police.

A second vehicle was also hit.

Both had two occupants each, and there were no injuries.

Police were on the scene collecting bullet casings.

Later, investigators were searching two other areas along the Dan Ryan, near 18th Street and near 41st Street.

The Chicago White Sox were playing a game at U.S. Cellular at the time, about four blocks south of the shooting.
