CHICAGO (STMW) — An Oak Lawn man died after a boating accident Monday evening in Pistakee Lake near northwest suburban Fox Lake, police said.

The incident happened about 5 p.m. at a pier at a private residence in the 35000 block of Marine Drive, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office.

The 57-year-old man had been boating with another man, also from Oak Lawn, who went inside a nearby home after they tied up the boat, sheriff’s police said.

When the other man returned about 10 minutes later, he could not see the 57-year-old who had stayed in the boat, police said. He found him a short time later floating facedown.

The man pulled him from the water and yelled for help while a neighbor called 911, police said.
