Man Facing Deportation Allowed To Stay To Donate Kidney To Sister

(CBS) -- The pleas of a 23-year-old Chicago woman in need of a kidney have been answered, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.

Jazmin Longoria-Lara had been pleading with Immigration and Customs Enforcement not to deport her brother, her last hope she has said for a donor kidney. He's already been tested and is a match, according to Longoria and her lawyer.

A kidney from her mother didn't take. Her brother, Argenis, pleaded guilty to burglary, losing his permanent resident status and he went from prison to an immigration holding cell awaiting deportation.

Now, ICE has agreed to let him stay to go through with the transplant.

Longoria been on dialyses for four years and has said she could die anytime of complications.
