FOP Fighting New Rule Requiring Cops To Cover Up Tattoos
(CBS) -- The Chicago Police Union is trying to rub out a new policy requiring officers to cover their tattoos.
The Fraternal Order of Police filed an unfair labor practice charge Tuesday.
Starting this Friday all officers with tattoos on their arms and legs must wear long sleeve shirts and long pants regardless of the weather.
The FOP released a statement saying, "It remains the lodge's position that the dress code policy is a mandatory subject of bargaining, especially when it impacts current officers who have visible body tattoos and/or body brandings. "
