CHICAGO (STMW) — A woman died after she drove a vehicle into a pond late Monday night in southwest suburban Romeoville.
Cynthia Breig, 33, was driving a gold 2002 Honda north on Lakeview Drive when she went through a stop sign at Remington Boulevard, drove through a grassy parkway and into a retention pond at 11:29 p.m., according to a statement from Romeoville police.READ MORE: COVID-19 In Illinois: Statewide Coronavirus Cases Drop For Second Consecutive Week
Divers checked the submerged vehicle and pulled Breig from the car, police said.

The car was towed out of the water, police said. No one else was inside.
