CHICAGO (STMW) — A 29-year-old man was fatally shot Tuesday night in the North Lawndale neighborhood.

About 10:05 p.m., the man was talking with an occupant inside a vehicle in the 3400 block of West Madison Street when a gunman approached and opened fire, striking the man in the side of his abdomen, police said.

His friend took him to Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition. He was later transported to Storger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The man is a documented gang member, according to police.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not confirm the death early Wednesday.
