(CBS) The Blackhawks have acquired Liam Coughlin from the Oilers in exchange for goalie Anders Nilsson, they announced Monday afternoon.

The 20-year-old Coughlin recorded 20 goals and 40 assists in 54 games for the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League last season. Edmonton originally took him in the fifth round of the 2014 draft.

The 25-year-old Nilsson had a 20-9-8 record with a .936 save percentage and 1.71 goals against average in 38 games for the Kazan Ak-Bars of the Kontinental Hockey League last season. Nilsson has appeared in 23 career games in the NHL, the most recent in the 2013-’14 season for the New York Islanders.

The Islanders orginally selected Nilsson in the third round of the 2009 draft. The Blackhawks acquired him in a trade last October.
