Cubs Make Series Of Roster Moves

(CBS) The Cubs made a series of roster moves Tuesday before opening a three-game home series against the Brewers.

Chicago activated catcher David Ross from the bereavement list and optioned outfielder Matt Szczur to Triple-A Iowa. Additionally, the Cubs recalled infielder Tommy La Stella from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Iowa, bringing the 40-man roster to 40.

La Stella, 26, had been on the DL since April 14 with a right oblique strain. He was 1-for-6 in limited action before he was injured this season.

Ross, 38, is hitting .189 with a homer and seven RBIs in 51 games, primarily serving as Jon Lester's personal catcher.

Szczur, 26, was batting .217 with one homer and eight RBis in 35 games with the Cubs this season.
