Cool, Windy Weather Heading Into Weekend, Warmer Temps Next Week
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The cool, windy weather that has had Chicagoans bundling up in sweaters and jackets most of the week was expected to continue through Saturday, before temperatures start returning to normal early next week.
Meantime, the National Weather Service has issued a Lakeshore Flood Advisory from 4 p.m. Friday through 3 p.m. Saturday, as wind gusts of up to 40 mph were expected to whip up waves up to 15 feet high on Lake Michigan.
"Strong northeast to east winds will further increase by this evening, gusting to over 40 mph at times resulting in waves building to 8 to 12 ft, with occasional waves up to 15 ft. When combined with the above average lake levels, this will likely produce minor flooding of the typically flood prone areas along the lakefront," the weather service said.

Friday's high was expected to reach only about 60 degrees, about 8 degrees lower than normal for this time of year. Winds of about 20 mph will continue to keep temperatures cool through Saturday, when the high might not even reach 60. While winds should calm noticeably on Sunday, temperatures will stay in the low 60s at best, before warming to the mid 60s on Monday, and into the low 70s Tuesday and Wednesday.
There's also a slight chance of showers on Sunday, although the rest of the next seven days should be dry.
