Clark The Cub Pumping Up Fans Throughout The City

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Cubs fever is sweeping Chicago and the team hopes to blanket the city with "W" flags ahead of Wednesday's big wild-card game against the Pirates.

"We are encouraging people to fly the 'W' in support of the Cubs for the postseason," Cubs communications manager Kevin Saghy said.

Clark the mascot is surprising fans Tuesday at 11 different locations.

"We were already at North Avenue Beach, the Field Museum and now Millennium Park so far and Clark just attracts a crowd," Saghy said. "Anything with a Cubs logo on it is attracting shouts of 'Go Cubs Go.' It's been great."

Priscilla Martinez was following Clark on social media and realized he was downstairs from her office at the Aon Center.

"I ran down here after I saw it on Instagram," Martinez said. "I'm excited. I'm a huge Cubs fan."

Clark is passing out W flags and #FlyTheW placards.

"I'm going definitely carry this around with me tomorrow and this is going up in the office," laughed Martinez.

"I'm going to put it in my room while I cheer on Jake Arrieta. He's unstoppable right now, I know they'll win tomorrow," said Cubs fan Maliki Anderson, a senior at Carl Sandberg High School who was visiting Millennium Park on a school field trip.

The Cubs are encouraging fans to follow them on Instagram, Vine and Twitter to find out where Clark is next.

The Cubs take on the Pirates in Pittsburgh in a one-game playoff for a chance to advance to the National League Division Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. You can hear the game on WBBM 780 AM beginning with the pregame show at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
