Demand Is Great For Chicago Computer And Information Research Scientists

Computer and information research scientists are considered large data professionals. The amount of information collected in today's high tech world is exorbitant. The individuals who have the talent to take that information and make sense of it are the individuals who are highly successful in this field.

Talented computer and information research scientists can look at current technology and projects and devise new methods to computing technology. They investigate and decipher multifaceted problems in computing for various fields.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor estimates the employment of computer and information research scientists is to increase 15 percent from 2012 to 2022, faster than the average for all occupations. Computer scientists are likely to find many promising job situations, because many companies are having trouble finding workers that are qualified and skilled in this area.

The majority of individuals working as computer and information research scientists are full-time, and there is the possibility of flexible hours depending on the position. The work environment is comfortable for this position as most work in an office and/or in a research type facility. The majority of the day entails sitting at a desk in front of a computer, so individuals who enjoy this type of work will enjoy a career as a computer and information research scientist.

There are also available opportunities for these professionals to work at the college level in a professor position. Many of the individuals who become employed in an academic setting will teach courses in computer theory.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, the median annual wage for computer and information research scientists was $102,190 in May 2012. There is a high amount of schooling required for most positions in this field; a Ph.D. is the norm. There are a limited number of positions which require a master's or bachelor's degree. Those with the highest amount of education will have the most opportunities for job openings and the flexibility to choose the best fit.
